The University of Wales is inviting applications for outstanding graduates to undertake a Prince of Wales Innovation Scholarship (POWIS). POWIS is a new £11 million initiative that is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund provided through the Welsh Assembly Government.
Successful candidates will undertake 3 year placements based with an innovative web-based company with offices in both North and South Wales operating in the motoring sector. Applications are invited for three scholars; two programmers/developers and one systems architect.
• Systems Architect – Economic, monetisation and technology models for multiple database and e-commerce platforms also featuring multi-media delivery platforms
• Programmer 1 and 2– Front and back end interaction with advanced website functions including mobile applications, innovative methods of developing dynamic databases and information availability into the fields of Grid and Cloud computing
Candidates for this position should have a relevant software based background backed with excellent academic credentials (grade 2:1 or higher). A post graduate qualification is preferable. Applicants will differentiate themselves by having gained experience in e-commerce and/or website/software development. Due to the nature of the project, the scholar should have strong communication skills and preferably, project management experience.
Scholarships* cover an annual tax-free stipend.
